Paynovate is growing. To face the technical challenges posed by our complex sector and business expansion, we are currently looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join our IT team.

Your mission:

  • As Software Engineer, you are responsible for developing the solutions within the scope of the Software Engineering team. You design, develop, and implement software solutions that facilitate financial transactions.
  • For this purpose, you write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages like Java, C++, Python, PHP, or similar. Your concise code is easily maintained and managed by other people on the team or even outside the team. You discuss eventual shortcuts or compromises with the Lead Developer. Your code is easily testable, and you handle test automation for unit tests and functional tests. All automation to support this is handled by you or other Software Engineers in the team.
  • You follow the Software Development Life Cycle defined by Paynovate. You discuss with Product Owners handling requirements and specifications, aligning on business priorities and team goals. You manage and handle the Tooling together with the Sysadmins, so that the teams can have a reliable delivery pipeline, and are able to deliver features within a day. You also integrate various financial systems and third-party services (like payment gateways, banking APIs, etc.) to ensure seamless transaction processing.

  • You are passionate about software engineering. Your degree in Computer Science/Engineering/related field, and your proven experience in software development are your core competencies.
  • You are attracted to varied technological environments. You are already proficient in Java/C++/Python/PHP development, but learning new programming languages is something that drives you. You are also familiar with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling.
  • You are a born problem-solver and thrive in finding solutions against constrained environments. You like working in a complex sectors like financial systems, electronic payments and transaction processing for the technical challenges they pose.
  • You find the idea of working for a regulated environment rewarding and enticing. You ideally have a good understanding of security principles and compliance regulations relevant to financial software.
  • Autonomy, agility and excellence are your motto. You are able to propose initiatives and follow-through.
  • English is like a second language to you. Ideally, you are at ease using either French or Dutch to communicate within the team.
  • You are drawn to the idea of working in an international environment and love interacting with other cultures.
  • Team cohesion is important to you. You are willing to come work from our Brussels offices at least 2/3 times per month, and ideally 3 days a week.
